Managing Search Configurations

You must be a Knowledge Collections administrator to view this page.

To display the Manage Search Configurations page:

On the left panel of application links, click (Administrator), and then click Manage Search Configurations.

Engineering Workbench provides a configurable search experience for its users. Select a combination of filters and sources to create a search configuration that the users of a subaccount can apply to their searches. Create new search configurations by pre-selecting different combinations of filters and sources to allow users to conduct searches with different purposes and intents. You can display one, or more, of the search configurations you create for a subaccount in the drop-down list to the left of the query box on the homepage and the Research application.

The Manage Search Configurations page looks like this:

There are default search configurations on this page:

Codes & Standards: enables users to search only in Codes & Standards documents
All Content: enables users to search all sources in Engineering Workbench

You can further customize these default search configurations for users of a subaccount.

Configurable search features

To create a new search configuration, click Create New Search Configuration. A dialog box opens that enables you to select the filters and document sources you want to apply to a search. The selections you make on this page for a search configuration applies to all searches when a user applies this configuration to a search.

To edit the filters and sources you have selected for a search configuration, click . This opens a dialog box that enables you to edit an existing search configuration.
To copy an existing search configuration, click .
To display a search configuration for users to work with in the drop-down list next to the query box in the homepage and the Research application, turn on the switch for it. Turn off the switch for a search configuration to remove it from the drop-down list. Note: You must display at least one search configuration in this drop-down list.
To arrange the order in which you want search configurations displayed to users in a subaccount in the drop-down list next to the query box, drag and place your search configurations in the desired order on this page.
To delete the search configurations you create, click .
