Usage report definitions
The following definitions refer to terms displayed in the collection of reports that track usage activity. The terms are sorted by report.
Active users
User: A unique user who has logged into and/or performed a specific activity in
Logins: The start of user activity in a single session. A session refers to the duration in which a user is active; after 30 minutes of inactivity, the activity period is considered terminated, and a new login is counted. Activity within Engineering Workbench refers to the user logging in to and engaging in any user action that calls the
Searches: A discrete search is initiated when a user formally submits a query. Any further refinement to that (same) search phrase or keyword in which a user applies new filters or works with the Advanced Query tool (and re-submits the query) is still considered a part of the initial query, and thus considered the same search. Only a change in the keyword and/or search phrase results in the demarcation of a new search.
Document views: When a document is rendered in a browser, it is considered a document view. This term refers to the total number of document views in the selected account or subaccount.
Summary views: Refers to when a user opens the Summary window of a document.
Bookmarked: Refers to when a user formally imposes a bookmark on a document.
Results exported: Refers to when a user formally exports the results of a query from
Results saved to project: Refers to when a user formally exports the results of a query to a project that is created within Engineering Workbench.
Login activity: This graph displays the beginning of any user activity in Engineering Workbench within a single session. Sessions are calculated on an hourly basis, and tracked in accordance to the activity transpiring for each day.
Summary of user activity per month: This is a customizable matrix comprising of user logins, searches, views activity, per month and/or year, as tracked for each user within an account or subaccount.
Publisher/SDO usage
Unique documents: A document that possesses a discrete document number and title combination.
Publisher: A unique, discrete authoring organization for documents.
Top publishers/SDOs: This graph displays the number of views of documents published by an organization.
Top documents: This graph displays the number of views of a document. This graph is tracked in accordance to document number.
Document views by publisher/SDO and document number: This is a customizable matrix comprising of document views, which is grouped by organization and document number, per month and/or year, and is tracked for an account or subaccount.
Search utilization details
Searches by month per user:This customizable matrix displays the total number of discrete searches conducted by a single user per month and/or year.
Search scope:This chart displays the total number of discrete searches by scope. In this context, you can analyze the data based on queries conducted on all sources, or queries conducted only in My Subscriptions.
Search utilization by date:This graph displays the total number of discrete searches by scope as tracked by time period.
Content utilization details
Total views: When a document is rendered in a browser, it is considered a document view. This term refers to the total number of document views in the selected account or subaccount.
Unique documents: A document that possesses a discrete document number and title combination.
Document views by document status: This chart displays the number of document views as grouped by the status of the document at the time a user views the document.
Unique documents by document status: This chart displays the number of document views as tracked by unique document numbers (but not a unique document number and title combination ), and the document status.
Show document views: This customizable table displays document views by user for a period of time (days or month).
Document views by date: This graph displays the total number of document views as tracked by day.
License utilization
Max concurrent users per month: This customizable matrix displays both the number of license seats available to a subaccount for a particular PCN, along with the maximum number of users who have simultaneously used the available license seats, as tracked by month and/or year.
Max license utilization: This graph displays the percentage of maximum number of simultaneous users of license seats for a particular PCN, as compared to the total the number of license seats available to a subaccount for same PCN.
Category usage
Views by category: This chart displays the number of document views by the category in which the user is logged in.
Document views by category, publisher, document, and user: This customizable matrix displays the number of document views and number of non-unique users, along with the percentages of these document views and non-unique users as tracked by month and/or year, as grouped by subaccount, category, publisher, and user.
Views by publisher: This chart displays the number of documents viewed as tracked by publisher or SDO.
Knowledge Base
Knowledge Collection: This graph groups all the knowledge collections into umbrella categories (example: Reference Collection, Patents, etc.). Click on one or more categories to further filter the data provided by Views by Knowledge Collection graph and the Document views and unique users by knowledge collection and subaccount matrix.
Views by Knowledge Collection: This graph displays the percentage of views for each knowledge collection.
Document views and unique users by knowledge collection and subaccount: This matrix displays the number of times each knowledge collection has been viewed. It also details the number of unique users who have viewed each knowledge collection. This data is further grouped by month, year, and subaccount.
