Viewing a patent summary

The Application, Method, and Features sections provide a summarized version of the patent. More or less information can be shown by selecting a different detail level.

To change the detail level of the summary

• To adjust the level of detail, click a detail-level mark on the Detail level slider above the summary. You can also click Less or More to adjust the setting incrementally.

The lowest detail setting represents the least amount of detail, as well as the least amount of information in the summary. The default setting for the slider is 4.

Translating a patent summary

You can have the patent summary translated from English into the language that you specify. Patent summaries can be translated into English, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese from the original summaries.

To translate the summary

• From the Translate to list, select the language into which you want the patent summary to be translated.

Working with a patent summary

To bookmark the document

1. Under Document, click Bookmark.
2. Type a name for your bookmark.
3. (Optional) Type a description of the patent.
4. To display your bookmark on the home page, select the Display on Home Page check box.
5. To link your bookmark to a project in My Workspaces, click and then select a project or create a new project.

To view the document in a separate tab or window

• Under Document, click View.

To view the document in PDF format

• Under Document, click Get PDF.

To save or export the summary

• To save the summary to a project in My Workspaces, under Summary, click Save.
• To export the summary to an Excel file or to a PDF file on your hard disk, under Summary, click Export.

To get a link of the summary

You can get a link to a patent summary that you are working with.

• In the patent Summary Window, click
• In the Get Link dialog box, select between the Most recent revision or This specific version of the document summary. If you select the Most recent versionoption, this means, that when you use the link in the future, you see the most current version of the document summary. Select This specific version if you need access to this specific version of the document summary.
• Click Get Link.
• Click Copy to make a copy of the link.
